You wrote the same exact thing in the bible you gave me when I stayed with you that summer, and that's the bible I've been using since we got back into church. It's true when they say actions speak louder than words... especially when it comes to be a christian. Love you Aunt Deby! Great post!
Sometimes I think that most of us hear the word, but we're not listening to it. When we hear it, REALLY HEAR it, then it becomes real to us and we want to live it.
Amen. This is a daily job for me. It's so easy to be a hearer and not a doer but being a doer is so much more effective than being a hearer and talker.
What a beautiful post, Deby. I, too, want to be a doer of the Word. I don't want a namby pamby walk with Christ. I want it to be vital, rich and effective in being used by Christ to reach the lost.
By the way, I was joking on my blog. I'm a big-time TP'r. I not only threaten, I do it! hehe.
I believe in one way to be...I cannot recall when or where I heard it, but apply it to every area of my life.
I wish to be a pillar that helps hold up the building, instead of a caterpillar, that slinks in and out and is never heard.
I really live this way. At one church we attended I became the *janitor* and cleaned 2 times a week, not because I was asked to, but because it needed it...
I am here to be used for HIM. I pray that I am always willing in any way to continue to be this way.
I agree....we should be doers not to get Glory from men but the Lord only!!! So many times we do things for the Lord and just can't wait to brag to others all that we do. Hmmmm....now who's getting the Glory!!!

No~~ I am a homemaker because God has given me the infinite honor of being a wife, and I delight in employing every ability that He has equipped me with, in this glad career." Mrs. Lanier Ivester
"Spend your time in nothing which you know must be repented of; in nothing on which you might not pray for the blessing of God; in nothing which you could not review with a quiet conscience on your dying bed; in nothing which you might not safely and properly be found doing if death should surprise you in the act."

Yes, that we may apply what we hear from the preaching.
I love the book of James... this is one of my favorite verses in that book!
I wish more people were praying to be "doers".

Amen! This is my prayer too.

Oh yes I like that very much!
I want to always be a doer and not just a hearer. Hearing accomplishes nothing where as doing can accomplishe great thing for christ.
