Yard sale lovelies

I am on the hunt for some more LOVELY type things to add to my home.

I know....Deby,*you've been there done that before*..I can hear some of you now. I miss the flowers, the pretty type stuff and I want to add it in somehow...and I know they will work.

I found the things pictured at a yard sale....all at the same house and everything pictured only cost me $20.00. I think I got a great deal, what do you think?

Our Saturday Date

A date with your spouse is what works for you...

For us....this may sound silly but my husband LOVES when he loads us his old
Dodge pick up truck....which is by NO MEANS anything to look at, and takes a load to the dump.

We are in the process of remodeling our home so these trips come around quite frequently. He always will ask me to go on a date with him, to ride with him to the dump. Yep, it is a smelly place....yes...the truck is rickety, to me at least...but he loves going and loves me to go with him. ALSO the treat is that we get a coffee at our local 7-11. WE both love their coffee....I rarely say no.

I love these memories, and our conversations on the way to dump.....for some reason these Saturday morning trips or whenever he has the need to go are a fun time for both of us. I was just thinking, maybe it is because it just feels good to get rid of stuff that bogs you down. Maybe it is because he loves this old ugly truck that I tease him about. The truth is, I just love being with him and I know someday in the future we will reminisce about these mornings.

Life is short....enjoy your marriage, I love this guy, and have for almost 37 years...more today than yesterday and what is even better I know HE would say the same thing about me. Thank you Lord for my Spouse, my friend, Jim.

What Rose

Your Love Is Represented By a Pink Rose

You see love as something that should be light, fun, and whimsical.
People fall in love with you easily. And you tend to fall out of love easily!
You express your love through attention and shared experiences. You love people more than they realize.

George Mueller

I love the biography of George Mueller...and his quotes .....so from time to time I will share those that speak so loudly to me:

"There was a day when I died;

died to self, my opinions, preferences, tastes and will;

died to the world, its approval or censure;

died to the approval or blame even of my brethren or friends;

and since then I have studied onlyto show myself approved unto God."

(George Mueller)

Oh that I could say that myself.....just to care what it is the LORD wants for me. Nothing more nothing else.....to be rid of self....especially in the things that *I* sometimes think...DON"T MATTER......the so called little things....

Narcissism Anyone

Thought this was a great article and it is USED with permission by it's author:Lydia Brownback

Narcissism Anyone?
Narcissism--we're all guilty to one degree or another. It's part of being human. It's part of being American.

Our narcissism is exposed in our obsessive thoughts about our weight. Retailers have taken our obsession straight to the bank with today's vanity sizes. Yesterday's 10 is today's 6.

It's exposed in the nail salons and the tanning booths that bookend every strip mall in the country.

It's exposed in our $150-every-eight-weeks hairstyles.

It's exposed in how easily duped we are by the promise of expensive cellulite vanishing cream.

Our self-obession hasn't made us a happier nation over all. Our French tips and all-over tans have done nothing to diminish the number of anti-depressant prescriptions sliding across pharmacy counters everyday. That's because the glances of admiration and envy we get for wearing single-digit sizes provides only a quick and shallow fix.

Narcissim is even more prevalent with our claims and possessions: My happiness, my goals, my desires, my rights, my family, my schedule. Me, my, I--it's what we live for. Self involvement breeds more self-involvement because it all just seems so normal. Think about the conversations we have around the water cooler or in the parking lot:

"Do you think I've lost weight?"
"Well, now that you mention it, you do look a bit thinner--not that you needed to lose anything. I'm the one who could stand to take off a couple."
"You? Don't be silly. Your still wearing a size 4, aren't you? What's the problem?
"Well, actually, I'm a 2 now. But I've only been able to get to the gym three times a week lately, so I've been worried about my weight."

Can we imagine holding a conversation like that in front of a missionary from our church who spends fifty weeks a year in tribal India? For that matter, can we imagine walking up to anyone we really respect and admire and asking, "Does this outfit make me look fat?"

"Of course not!" you protest, "Those conversations are personal and private!"No they're not. They're just stupid.

Wouldn't it be glorifying to God, and utterly freeing to us, if we made a pact to help one another recover from our narcissistic tendencies rather than remaining narcissism enablers? Come on . . . we can do it.

Transformation

Thank you to Lalle of Lalle's cottage for pointing out where this picture came from:
it was done by Becca of Bluebirds and Roses:
http://bluebirdroses.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

I found this picture on a blog ...and cannot remember which one....Just thought I would share someone else's work. I think it is cool that they thought outside of the box..

Maybe it isn't your style but I do think the transformation is neat.

Kind of like when you get saved.....you are a ugly old dresser..and then the Lord starts the process......His WORD convicts and starts to change you....listening to good Godly preaching changes you, praying changes you, the Holy Spirit convicts......and Voila' before you know it....you are turning into someone that is beautiful INSIDE and OUT.....and the process takes a lifetime. I do believe though, it can be slowed down by our disobedience or times when we think we can do it ourselves. There can be setbacks by our sin.....I am so glad that God is faithful and HE can see the finished project and even though, the process sometimes HURTS as we are in it....IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL....

Today COULD be the day....The Trumpet could sound and we WOULD BE OUT of HERE ? Would you go? ARE you sure? Are YOU ready to meet JESUS?

IF you aren't sure...Email me at: yesipray@gmail.com

It starts so young

My sister Lisa just sent me this...and I checked..it is already on her BLOG...so I am blog lifting...but hey she is my neice...and some of you read my blog and not Lisa's...and vice versa....
I am not quite sure WHY Abbie did not put me on her friends list?....and she cries when she hasn't seen me...What's up with that?????
WEllllll...I hope you I enjoy this I sure did....

Love this too

*Which is your reasonable service*......hmmmmm...What does that mean to you....What does that mean to me....?
This is a very convicting verse for me......not to be conformed to this WORLD...wow..their are probably things in my life that are way to WORLDLY if I were to be totally honest with myself...
My Prayer is this...."Lord, show me MY sin...help me to obey and be a "doer of the Word"...Help me to take your WORD seriously.....knowing that YOU mean what you say...."
Your servant daughter,

A Favorite Hymn

This is a dear and favorite Hymn of mine....If you want to hear it...I am putting the link at the end....you will be BLESSED !!!!!!

This hymn was written after two major traumas in Spafford’s life. The first was the great Chicago Fire of October 1871, which ruined him financially (he had been a wealthy businessman). Shortly after, while crossing the Atlantic, all four of Spafford’s daughters died in a collision with another ship. Spafford’s wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, “Saved alone.” Several weeks later, as Spafford’s own ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, the Holy Spirit inspired these words. They speak to the eternal hope that all believers have, no matter what pain and grief befall them on earth.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,When sorrows like sea billows roll;Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain
It is well, with my soul,It is well, with my soul,It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,Let this blest assurance control,That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

Refrain

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole,Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Refrain

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:If Jordan above me shall roll,No pang shall be mine, for in death as in lifeThou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

Refrain

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,The sky, not the grave, is our goal;Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

Refrain

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,Even so, it is well with my soul.

Refrain

Can you tell my favorite verses????

Wednesday night church

I love our Wednesday night church service the best .....I think.

I think it is because usually the congregation is made up of believers. The stuff my pastor preaches on is geared to us. Sometimes it can be tough...but tough is GOOD.
It is also a great way to hear the prayer requests that you might NEVER know. Are we not to*Pray without Ceasing* a Wednesday night service will sure add to your prayer list...

It is a mid-week time to be with other believers......I leave encouraged.

IF you haven't gone to yours in awhile, give it a try. You will be blessed and your pastor and others in your congregation will be glad that you are there. In Acts, the early Christians met everyday. Now then we might be on to something.

Isn't GOD GOOD!!!!

Deby
Iam aware not all churches have mid-week...how about you having a few friends over for some fellowship.....now that would be Acts in Action !!!!

My stamp/craft room

IS a mess and I just found this graphic...so today I will take a few minutes more to *Plug away* at it....hope this encourages you too.

My PINK friend

I love this friend of mine. It allows me to talk with my sister for much longer than we realize(we have the same cell phone company)I can get my house cleaned...EVERYTHING ...with both hands free.

...I can talk when driving.......Tell me...don't even remember seeing that stop sign...Did I stop?

Anyways IF you are thinking of getting a hands free device. I would recommend a blue tooth. I don't care if it looks ridiculous, if it appears you are talking to yourself.....etc...it has made my life easier, just like my much loved laptop.

Now I am not expert at functions on either of these devices, BUT....I am the resident expert on my TIVO...who would have *thunk*....technology, where would we be without it?

Color Fickle

http://www.italyincolor.com/contact.html Photographer: William Wierzalis
Copyright, used with permission

As a woman in her 50's I am here to announce that I will no longer have a favorite color.
I just can't do it anymore. I feel like I am telling 1/2 truths. If I were to tell you that my favorite color is RED.....not anymore...."NO" I am color fickle....There are too many colors in that trusty box of 64 that we have all grown up, to have a favorite.
I can probably ask all the small children in my life, to include grandsons ,nephews and neices what their favorite color is. It starts young.... I love color tooooo much to settle on one. Yes, RED it used to be, but not anymore. I love the shades of pink that I have in my craft and bathroom. Oh...the new yellow color of petunias that I just planted...LOVELY....and greens...ahhh...look at the forest...all shades and they all go together. Love the look and smell of lavender. What's a girl to do. How can you choose???? Well....friends...I cannot so I am officially taking myself off of the hook. I am now saying *all of them*. Will any of you dare to do the same? I am thankful to God for the variety HE has given us to look at enjoy. So no more favorites for me, thank you Lord for all of them.
I am including some pictures taken of the Island of Burano. Now these people have it right. Look at the colors.

Today

Basically, it has been catching up on laundry...one more load to go...
I had planned to get alot more done than that BUT......my TMJ has been so bad,
at the advice of our family medical expert, Dr. Lisa .....I took a muscle relaxer.
It wiped me out....a 3 hour nap....

The jobs , although not pressing....can wait until tomorrow...somethings are just out
of our control . That is life.

I spent time in the Word ,did tons of laundry, ironed my husbands clothes for work tomorrow, made us great big salads for dinner.....to include a extra salad for my beloved to take to work tomorrow...Still might work on a few things this evening.

Tomorrow is a new day.....

Yesterday and Thanks

Yesterday I was invited to Betty's house for lunch. She is a lady in my church. I was very excited as this is the first time I have gone to anyone from my churchs' home. We are the newbies and we know it takes awhile to be part of things.

At Betty's house we had *tuna salads* for lunch. You might be thinking...TUNA...so what..but this was REAL Tuna...she had bought the FRESH fish, processed it and it was in a jar....and the difference from Store bought Tuna and this was remarkable.
She served it on a bed of mixed greens from HER GARDEN....FRESH again...yummmm...with her fresh radishes and other veggies. She also served stuffed artichokes which were wonderful. I usually have just steamed mine and then dipped in butter as you go...but she had used cracker crumbs drizzled with olive oil and spices...yummm again.. WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!! Dessert conisted of Tapioca and a cookie. IT was a delightful time of food and fellowship. I would love to tell you more about Betty but I am going to wait and next time take pictures. This lady and her talents she has is impressive.

So this morning I am still thanking the Lord, for this dear sweet woman.. for her friendship and gracious hospitality. Enjoying the FRESH things was a blessing as I am the girl that routinely buys the BAGGED variety....( said in shame)

AND also...thank you to those of you who have sent me links to graphics and such it has been fun browsing and saving them to use in my posts.
