What's Up ?

The calendar says *SPRING*

Our Sunday morning surprise

Here in the Puget Sound we are known for our WET
as in the Pacific-North"WET"
NOT
..WHITE..
......I prefer WET.....
actually a few days of sunshine would be nice
But....I am learning to be content, even with the the weather.
It is a process, this learning to be content, thing.
~deby
Philippians 4:11
Not that I speak in respect of want:
for I have learned,
in whatsoever state I am,
therewith to be content.

The Fields are ready

Matthew 9:37
Then saith he unto his disciples,
The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
Matthew 9:38
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,
that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
These verses have been on my mind this week.
Not so long ago I heard a pastor use these verses.
He commented that indeed the fields are ready,
they will be reaped...either for good or bad
and yes, it does depend on us.
(paraphrasing him, hope I got it right)
I do believe in the pre-tribulation RAPTURE
I am RAPTURE ready,
YET.... there are so many out in those fields.
I am asking the Lord to show me , in my daily life
how to do my part, to open doors, to be a soul winner.
Proverbs 11:30
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life;
and he that winneth souls is wise.

to be a homemaker

I am a bit sad in my heart today. It started yesterday
when I was at a meeting. It has lingered.

This lady at the meeting mentioned that she had been laid off for a few weeks now and is just so bored and does not know what to do with herself. She does now have her children at home with her.
She was so dismayed and disgruntled. She put her *new situation* out there for people to comment. What startled me was the opinions that the others had.
The opinions ranged from sympathy, to I know how that is honey, to hey, read a book.
I mean, I wanted my turn to say. "What???--truly there are not enough hours in a day, to fill my time with things I like to do, or want to do, or more IMPORTANTLY, need to do. I was sad as the women giving ideas were, in my age range,some older, some younger and they did not have ANY good suggestions for this young mother. Is it a wonder that the family is falling apart? So you understand, this was not a Christian meeting.

This is the *WORLD's* thinking. The world has so de-valued the role of a homemaker that when one has no choice but to stay home, they are *LOST* .
I don't know if I will ever have a chance to speak and to encourage this young woman. I am NOT shy, so the fact that I didn't even get to put my .02 worth in was unusual.
I don't know her name, the Lord does.
Homemaking----oh one should never be bored.
Really, I know we all get behind etc...but truly I have so many things that interest me.
I really just wish I had the energy to do all the things that I think about.
Sorry this is so longwinded, at least for me.

Springing up, here

Spring is arriving
Everything is waking up !!!
This is a mural done on a wall in my area.
Thought it was pretty neat.
I took this picture as I was riding in my car with
my husband. Oh I love it that the daffodils
are coming up and looking so pretty.
~~SPRING~~
I really enjoy the change of seasons.

Saturday encouragement

HE is in control
Matthew 28:20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and,lo,
I am with you alway,
even unto the end of the world.
Amen.
I bolded the *I am with you alway* as I need to remember that
I am sure there are others too that need this reminder.

My husband KNOWS me

Do you see what he brought home for me ???
It is exactly the doormat I would have chosen.
I had never seen this before, or even hinted.
I just think it is so cute..
So of course a picture, a blog post to go with it...
before...
it gets dirty...
I was more thrilled with this
than I would have been with a dozen roses.
Yes...he knows me.

Meet *Stu*

We have critters !!!
The other morning my husband was taking our dog out
and lo and behold, look who was up visiting.
He called to me and of course, here comes the CAMERA.
We haven't had a place where there is wildlife.
This Opposum reminded of us of the Beverly-Hillbillies.
Granny, as I recall would make Possum- STEW
So my husband named him (her??) Stu.
Anyways, that is what is new
here at Hill-light Cottage.
Got any recipes?
(Thanks Mrs. Rabe for reminding me
it was Granny NOT grandma)

Shoe girl

Hey---What's wrong with this picture?
Can't figure it out---come on sure you can.
TWO different shoes
Clark's Clog--Crocs
Both are Black (really the clogs are a dark Navy)
Well, Saturday
I went shopping for groceries etc...
I was driving home and I thought ?????
Something feels funny---
duh---
Looking down at my feet in the car
lo, and behold
I had worn TWO different shoes out.
I just started laughing at myself so hard.
People have asked:
"Did anyone look at you funny"
How would I know,
I am in my old world when I am grocery shopping.
So now I have to do a *shoe check* before I go out.
Hey, it's not all bad,
I got a blog post out of my *moment*
and lot's of laughter.

Can you help ?

People, you know,
I know---Real life friends and family
Blog friends , the unknown
They are losing their jobs, their livihoods.
Not all of them.
but many, way too many.
My heart is heavy this evening for some I know of.
What can we do????
Pray
Pray some more
Then get practical.
Do you have a extra $5.00---maybe $50.00
When you don't have much
ANYTHING given is better than nothing.
Can you take someone a bag of groceries?
How about one meal---or maybe
have them over.
Things are spiraling,
I don't want to be fearful, but helpful
don't you?
We need to be a people of prayer and practicality!
~~~~~ooooOoooo~~~~~
John 13:35
By this shall all men
know that ye are my disciples,
if ye have love one to another.
IF you don't know of anyone you can help out.
Email me. I know of plenty !!!
Things here
Lately life sure has been busy. With illness and such whew, it is like the wind gets knocked out of your sails.
A few updates from my neck of the woods:
Last night I spent the night away and was at my nieces' bridal shower. Oh what a sweet time of fellowship we had. I was asked to do the devotion which was a blessing to me . The wedding is this week.
We have had contractors at our home for two days, my beloved has been off work to be HERE when they are here. The major work we needed done, is almost finished...oh it feels good.
This weekend we will be celebrating our youngest grandsons birthday....Nathan will be 1 !!!!
Very soon my daughter and her family will return from the east coast for a few months, I cannot wait....
Do you realize the time change is this weekend? I for one, am ready for the longer days.
I am dismayed GREATLY over all the changes happening in our country. We need so badly to stay focused and in the WORD and encourage each other. We are deepening our pantry some as I have already seen some prices start to skyrocket.
I think that is it....I am feeling better today..just tired as I stayed up late (rare thing for me) having girl talk with my sister and nieces. Yesterday I was with my other sister and her great kids..oh it is fun to live close to family ...and then I sure did enjoy sitting by my daughter in law Kristi at the shower...we had our own little giggles going on...
How's things in your neck of the woods?
~~deby
BTW the cross-stitch sampler is something I did while stranded in Germany when we were stationed overseas. I was flying Space-A back to Turkey and it took me 5 days to get a flight...so I stitched and stitched...and stressed and stressed....yep...I did..but I did get back...there....
a visit to Sallys
Recently we went to a Farewell dinner
given by a colleague of my husband.
Oh it was such a nice evening.
Her home is what is called a 1912 Craftsman Home.
There is so much detail.
These pictures do not do it justice.
What I enjoyed most was her gift of hospitality
You walk in and immediately feel at home.
There are things like that I could learn from her.
Just do it, do not wait until everything is perfect.
Hope you enjoy the pictures
This is her fireplace
it was recently redone
Dining room
Kitchen
Dinner was WONDERFUL
Above her stove.
What I like is this is not just for looks.
She uses everything she hangs up
She is a great cook and even better baker
Her desserts and cakes are always a bit hit.
