This I KNOW.....Without HIM

This I know.....
as I contemplate 2008
there are personal changes in areas of my
life that need work.
I am sure you have them as well.
BUT this I KNOW:
WITHOUT HIM
Without Him I could do nothing
Without Him I'd surely fail
Without Him I would be drifting
Like a ship without a sail
Without Him I would be dying
Without Him I'd be enslaved
Without Him life would be worthless
But with Jesus thank God I'm saved
Oh Jesus, oh Jesus
Do you know Him today
Please don't turn Him away
Oh Jesus, my Jesus
Without Him how lost I would be
Without Him how lost I would be

Happy Birthday to my Husband

Happy Birthday to My Beloved
I am so Blessed
He is my best friend, besides
being my husband....
I enjoy our moments together
whether it is browsing the Home Improvments stores with Him,
drinking coffee with him before work in the morning,
or sitting by him in church and hearing his
bass voice sing.
He loves the Lord,
Me,
His Children, and grandchildren
our friends and people
He CARES
and is a man of integrity
He has more energy than anyone I know.
I am so blessed and so in LOVE with HIM.

Merry CHRISTmas

Jesus Is The Sweetest Name I Know

Words & Music: Lela B. Long, 20th Century
There have been names that I have loved to hear,
But never has there been a name so dear
To this heart of mine,
as the Name divine,
The precious, precious Name of Jesus.

Jesus is the sweetest name I know,
And He’s just the same as His lovely Name,
And that’s the reason why I love Him so;
Oh, Jesus is the sweetest name I know.

There is no name in earth or Heav’n above,
That we should give such honor and such loveAs the blessèd Name,
let us all acclaim,
That wondrous, glorious Name of Jesus.

Jesus is the sweetest name I know,
And He’s just the same as His lovely Name,
And that’s the reason why I love Him so;
Oh, Jesus is the sweetest name I know.

And some day I shall see Him face to face
To thank and praise Him for His wondrous grace,
Which He gave to me,
when He made me free,
The blessèd Son of God called Jesus.

Jesus is the sweetest name I know,
And He’s just the same as His lovely Name,
And that’s the reason why I love Him so;
Oh, Jesus is the sweetest name I know.
Merry Christmas from our home to yours...
JESUS is the REASON
we CHOOSE
to Celebrate the Season

Read your Bible in a Year

This is the system I used to go through my Bible this past year.
I finished early.
It takes only about 15 -20 minutes a day
IT was so easy and not overwhelming and such a blessing

These were the cards that I used.....they come perforated
you tear them apart and put them in your Bible as bookmarks where you are
reading. It averages out that you read 4-5 chapters a day.
You are reading Old Testament, Psalms (Proverbs, Song ofSolomon) New Testament.
A little of each.....and the dates with boxes are on it so you can check it off..
It is great IF like me you get behind a bit.
ALSO ......I LOVE to see the progress,
This is just the basics, for me
I also do further studies on subjects, books of the Bible etc.
This is what this years looks like.

They are FREE...you can order them here:

Faith Baptist Bible College

I have extras....and would mail some too.

Email me your snail mail address and let me know

I will take off the last 2 sentences when they are gone.

What a GREAT way to start off 2008

a Lesson for me....for you?

I found this devotional VERY convicting...and thought that some of you would too...
btw...I did use a system to read your Bible through in a year...the best system I have ever used...not overwhelming...I finished early this year...and will be doing a post on it....this week
so.....please...read on:

And the Child Grew
by Dr. Paul Chappell

“And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.”

Luke 2:40

John Bois was one of the men who helped translate the 1611 King James Version of the Bible into English. “At the age of five, John Bois could read the Bible in Hebrew. By the time he was six years old, he not only wrote Hebrew legibly, but in a fair and elegant character. According to historical records, John Bois soon distinguished himself by his great skill in Greek, writing letters in that language to the Master and Senior Fellows, when he had been but half a year in college.

“It was a common practice of John Bois to go to the University Library at four o’clock in the morning, and stay without intermission till eight in the evening. When he was elected Fellow of his College in 1580, he was laboring under that formidable disease, the small pox. But, with his usual resolution, rather than lose his seniority, he had himself wrapped in blankets, and was carried to be admitted to his office by his tutors.

“For ten years, he was Greek lecturer in his college; and during that time, he voluntarily lectured in his own chamber at four o’clock in the morning, most of the Fellows being in attendance!

“He was ‘in fastings oft,’ sometimes twice in the week; and punctual in all religious duties. His preaching was without notes, though not without much prayer and study. He took but two meals, dinner and supper, and never drank at any other time. He would not study between supper and bed-time; but spent the interval in pleasant discourse with friends. He took special care of his teeth, and carried them nearly all to the grave. Up to his death, his brow was unwrinkled, his sight clear, his hearing quick, his countenance fresh, and head not bald. He ascribed his health and longevity to adhering and observing certain disciplines taught to him by his tutor.” (Biographical sketch from Alexander McClure)

John Bois increased in wisdom and stature. He did not let time go to waste; rather, he embraced the study and work of God. God blessed him for his service. The principle is clear. When we grow in the wisdom of God’s Word, and when we maturely take care of the bodies God has given to us, we will be more like Jesus.

Luke 2:52 says, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” Little is written about the youth of our Lord, so we must take into serious consideration the small amount of text referring to His youth. After Jesus was born, He grew.

After we are born into the body of Christ, we are to grow in the Lord. Has there been a progressive, growing change since you have entered into the family of God? Challenge yourself through Scripture to grow in wisdom and in stature. John Bois grew in wisdom and stature, and God favored him by choosing him to help translate the Scriptures. Jesus Christ grew in wisdom and in stature, and God used Him to become the Saviour of this world. Imagine what God could do with your life if you sincerely lived a life growing in wisdom and in stature!

Show n Tell....a Father's comments

Today is Show and Tell
MY story is about my dad, now in Heaven.
I can remember MANY years after
we were done decorating our tree.
my dad would make a comment.
It was something like:
"I think a tree would just look good with lights and ICICLES"
I remember this comment being said YEAR after YEAR
Now...I know most people hate this icicle strand stuff and I have to admit
I have not used it for years,,,,,my mom would try to get us to carefully
lay each strand...draping it on the tree vs..throwing it on in bunches.
This year, has been a year that I have REALLY missed
MY PARENTS, and Younger brother.
So...this year...I did what my dad always wanted to try.
The pictures do not do justice of how beautiful
my little tree looks...with just lights, ICICLES and a star.
It is so sparkily...and SIMPLE
and done in memory of a Father's comments

Deby
sorry for the not so great pictures..

A Season For Receiving

A Season for Receiving
by Dr. Paul Chappell

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

James 1:17

A wife told her husband, “Last night I dreamed you gave me two hundred dollars to spend on a Christmas wardrobe. Surely you wouldn’t do anything to spoil a dream like that, would you?” “Of course not,” he replied. “You may keep the two hundred dollars.”

Yes, this is the season for giving and receiving, but as this story illustrates, some people are a little stingy in their giving. I want to tell you about a very generous Giver. In fact, He gave to us the greatest gift of all—eternal life. For some people, it is so incredible—so unbelievable—that they have trouble accepting this gift. One man said, “I was brought up to believe that you got what you earned...nothing comes free. The gift of salvation is incredible to a guy like me.”

John 1:10–12 tells us how Jesus Christ came to earth, how some people rejected Him, but how others received Him as their Saviour. “He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” If this is truly a season for receiving, why don’t you accept this gift and become a son or daughter of God right now?

Maybe you have already received Jesus Christ as your Saviour, but have you received His Word? James 1:21–22 says, “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” God commands us in this passage to not only be hearers, but doers of the Word. Wouldn’t receiving God’s Word and then obeying it be a great gift to give back to Jesus Christ this Christmas?

Friend, once you have accepted Jesus Christ and received His Word, your holidays can truly be a season of rejoicing. Luke 2:13–14 proclaims, “And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will to men.” You can rejoice in your newfound hope and discover true fellowship with a loving God. We read in Psalm 33:21, “For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.”

Christmas is quickly approaching. You will soon receive many wonderful gifts, but they won’t last forever. This Christmas, receive an everlasting gift sent directly from God to you—the gift of eternal life. ‘Tis the season...

(If you haven't read my Sept 30th post....please do so...I have already received the BEST gift this year.....Deby)

Christmas light

The True Light of Christmas
by Dr. Paul Chappell

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 27:1

The lights on a Christmas tree or the ones hanging from the outside of your house are not the true lights of Christmas. In the Christmas story, the wise men found the true light. They were not seeking to worship the star, the angels, or even Mary; they were seeking Jesus Christ.

When Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, His light remained on earth. Psalm 119:105 says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Second Peter 1:19 says, “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:”

Time does not change principles. We still have the true light of Christmas. In the past, the light came in swaddling clothes; today the light comes through the Bible. The Bible is a living book. Its truths are just as relevant and needful today as they were a thousand years ago.

When we read the Bible, the light of the Bible begins its unique work—removing the darkness in our lives. After reading a portion of Scripture we may think Wow! I really needed that, or I never saw that truth before. Or, we may suddenly close the Bible because it hit a painful area in our lives, or because it convicted our “stubborn” minds.

When you sit down to read the Bible, are you willing to change your mind every time the Lord convicts your heart? Are you willing to let the light of Jesus Christ shine through you even if that means changing your thoughts, your preferences, or your convictions? When we are not willing to change our minds it is as if we are saying, “Lord, in that area of conviction, I choose darkness.”

May we never succumb to the point of choosing darkness. The living Word may convict your heart about a small matter. Even in this instance, choose light—choose a change of mind—for Jesus said, “for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth” (John 12:35).

If you have ever wanted a one-on-one conversation with God, here is your chance. Sit down and read His Word. He wants to speak to you! His Word is alive and ready to change your life. The wise men traveled from afar to seek the light of Christmas. Are you willing to travel to the Bible on your shelf to seek the true light of Christmas?

Season Reminder

Yesterday,my husband had choir practice before the evening service
(which was wonderful..my pastor spoke on quenching the Holy Spirit)
Well..it gave me time to do few errands.
It was pouring and windy and dark outside
I was thinking as I was backing up my car, BE Careful.
This car truly can be a weapon thatcan UN-intentionally DO HARM.
Then it occured to me that I NEED to pray more,
every time before I drive.
For some of you that is a given..a habit, you always do.
I admit 'I forget"

SO........as a reminder for those of you in blogland:
*Pray before you drive.
*Pay attention, there are more cars on the road this time of year.
*Remember some are driving intoxicated, drive defensively.
*Many are rushed and pre-occupied (truly on things that DO NOT MATTER)
*Slow down
*Remember WHY you choose to celebrate this SEASON.....
*You are taking Jesus with you, IF you are saved....Let your LET SHINE as a believer !
*DO NOT say Happy Holidays.....
*Merry Christmas, with a smile and a tract is nice and a better gift.
*Pray before you buy
*Will this end up in a Thrift Store for someone else to buy ?????
AND Again...
**PRAY before you drive.**

Show and Tell Friday

This is my FIRST time doing this. Go over to Kelli's,
and see what everyone else is also showing...and join in

There was a time when we lived overseas that I was REALLY into
wearing scarves. Well one day in the mail this picture arrived
lovingly drawn by my mother. She had gone to a ladies retreat
and I think she said the speaker had a scarf on and she asked her
how to do it, since she had a daughter that wore scarves.
She then drew and wrote it all out for me.
It meant alot then...BUT means such much more
NOW
You see my mom is in Heaven now.
She has been gone from our lives for not even 2
years. I have the frame and background paper
ready to frame this. My mom was the mother
of 7 children , I am the eldest.
I miss her more than words can even say.
This drawing is a reminder of her love for me

Peace

T
This is a picture of a plaque that I have
hanging in my house.
with the *SEASON* upon us
Here are some scriptures I would like
to share with you all.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:
not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Romans 5:1
Therefore being justified by faith,
peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Phil. 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
I hope this will help you stay focused in the coming weeks.
I know I sure need it.

Christmas in the Northwest.....REMOVED by Deby

I have taken this post off of my blog.
I have been praying about this after discussing it with someone recently...(you know who you are)....
and I have thought and thought and it ate at me...
and I will tell you why...
Hollywood/TV etc......makes so much fun of the roll of the husband and the father in the home.
I think it is undermining the family on the whole....if a man loses his authority or is ridiculed....
it tends to make them look foolish....etc....
Even though this post was a lighthearted fun type of post...I have decided
it was not a good choice for my blog.

Question on Prayer.....added more to this post

allposters.com
**UPDATE on this question at the end of this post**
I have a serious question...that I would love comments on....
.either here or your blog...
Please let me know IF you put the answer
or your thoughts on your blog.

What is a prayer warrior?.....
How do you know IF a person is
what is called a prayer warrior....
give me your thoughts on prayer.
Is this a spiritual gift. I know the Bible says to:
PRAY WITHOUT CEASING
Would love to know what some of
you know about this subject
Deby
**I have loved, as many of you have ,all the answers....
not a bad comment in the bunch...and put all together a total picture of sorts, would
you agree. You may wonder why.
I asked the question on prayer...well my friend Jamie,
kind of nailed it for me...in that she knows about fibromyalgia
and the frustration of it and lately I have been really hurting (no sympathy please)
and the fatigue has been horrible.....so I have been thinking Lord.."what can I do for you
what is the use ? "......with so many bad days I am pretty undependable*....it is hard
to make any committments and I nap ....yadda yadda yadda.....I ,at times, have had
my own pity party...sorry no one else invited....then the thought came to me
on prayer...and on Sunday night my pastor preached on Thankfulness and prayer
I would just like to develope that part of my daily walk and maybe this useless feeling
will leave...and last night I thanked the Lord for my fibro.....I am trusting the Lord that
since HE has allowed me to have it..then HE has a purpose for it
hence the question....and I need to do some more study on it
ie: a WORD study and also the books that you all have recommended.
Thank you everyone
Deby

Thanks Jamie Lynn

My niece, Jamie has awarded me the "Encouraging Blogger Award"
Thank you Jamie for all the nice things that you said.
~~NOW~~
I was thinking....who really encourages me in the world of blogland.
I looked at my sidebar/blogroll
I looked at my comments
and I can't narrow it down.
YOU ALL DO...
in different ways, but you all enrich my life
So as my Thanksgiving gift to you
TAKE this award..put it on your blog ...pass it on
~*~PLEASE~*~
YOU ALL have earned it, you are a part of my life and
my growth as a Christian,friend,mother,sister,aunt.

I know there is a tendency when someone
leaves an award for all..to think:
"She doesn't mean me"
YES I DO..
ALL of you
SO....if I know you are one that allows awards on
your blog, and I see that you did not take this from
me.....you are in trouble. I honestly could NOT narrow
this down as you ALL bless and encourage me

Dinner in a Pumpkin

Our daughter recently had us over for dinner.

Salt and pepper to taste (I also add pumpkin pie spice)

Combine ingredients and put in pumpkin.
Put top on pumpkin.
Place pumpkin on cookie sheet in oven preheated to 375 degrees.

Grace Livingston Hill

I got this from a list that I am on and I KNOW a few of you will
Appreciate these and understand.
For the rest of you....you need to read her books
You know you love Grace Livingston Hill books when...
...you know that if you had to, you could make a dress from scratch in one afternoon.
...you would sell one of your children for the first edition of the Esselstynes.
...you wonder what it would be like to be kissed reverently.
...you've considered naming a child Pansy, Marigold, or Amorelle.
...you know that you could move your family into a barn and like it.
...you know that you've met the love of your life when he tells you he saw you once as a child, you smiled at him, and you changed his life with that smile.
...you know the difference between being a Christian and being a church member.
...you know the best thing for an invalid to eat is a fragment of a chicken breast,
some delicately browned toast, and a nice cup of tea.
...you wonder if you have the nerve to appear in public without a hint of makeup or
lipstick but with a natural blush to your cheeks.
...you wish you had hair that naturally waved...and you would never dare think of bobbing your hair.
...you believe every child should have a Scottish nurse.
...you spend a lot of time looking up Scripture verses because there was no chapter or verse listed.
...a dinner is just not a dinner without slivered almonds.
...you spend a lot of time looking at the covers of the books, thinking,
"Do they really look the way Grace described?"
...finding a book you don't remember reading is like finding a treasure.
...you get to Heaven, you might bypass beloved family and friends to get to Grace first.
...you know that no matter what happens, you'll always have God...and your furniture
that has been handed down through generations.
...you also believe that somewhere down the line you have a rich family member who will die
and leave you an inheritance, perhaps even a Scottish castle!
...you read a book, realize you did not read anything about a bathroom, and silently thank God for running water.
...you can make a Bethlehem out of a few items you can buy at a five and dime.
...you believe that a little gray haired lady could have a baby of three or five.
...you truly believe that milk and crackers
would be a good lunch
Hope that you enjoyed these
