A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

Nails and Anger

There was a little boy who had a bad temper.
His father gave him a bag of nails
and told him that every time he lost his temper,
to hammer a nail in the back fence.

For the rest of the story
please go read Dallas's Post
It will just take a few minutes
and be so worth it.
You might even want to print it out
and read it to those you love,
or send it to a friend.
It's a keeper

Sobering to think of the WORDS that are so effectual...kind words can heal...soft words can turn away wrath...

A WORD FITLY SPOKEN!

but oh those harsh words..

A good post..Deby.

Oh, Deby! I went to read the rest of the story (feel a little like Paul Harvey) and it is so true! So many are hurt by harsh angry words. We're always sorry, but you can't take them back! Thank you for posting this.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Thanks for spreading this little story Deby!

I know when I first came across it on the Net, I was very moved by it and jotted it down.

Several times after that the Lord used this little story in my own circumstances and I felt led to to share it along with a poem I had and one of my favourite passages from scripture.

I trust that the Lord will use it to His honour and glory in the lives of all those who have seen it :o)

May you and your dear blog readers have a blessed day!

By His Grace,
Dallas

Deby,

Thanks so much for sharing this with your readers. It was wonderful and I commented on Dallas' site as well.

It is so true that we often hurt those we love with unkind words in anger. It sure does make one think and I will surely remember this when tempted to come back with an unkind word when I am hurt.

Thanks for sharing.

Hugs,
Dianne

This is a great object lesson for Sunday school kids too!

I tagged you for a meme, if you'd care to do it. No obligation, though!

hi Deby,
I love this story. I read it quite some time ago and it had a huge impact on me. There will always be consequences for our actions but I am so blessed to know I am at least forgiven.

BTW, I'm tagging you for a meme! I have not done one of these before so I hope you don't mind. It seems a nice fun way to get to know others better.
See my blog for details...

Thank you for the visit, honey, and I am adding you to my blog list. You can add mine if you wish but no one truly needs to ask me. I'm thrilled and humbled to be on anyone's blog list!

I love your preface to the comments. I agree with that. I approve all comments because my blog IS my blog. I had one person that kept telling me I was going to h*ll and I just shut them out. Blogging to me is all about having fun with it. I love talking about decorating and my misadventures with my humorous family but my religion comes first with me and I don't sully the Lord's name. (I once wrote to Dr. Laura and asked her to please watch her language!) Hah. I'm humorous, witty and funny and am a positive person with a love of life and hubs of 47+ years! Come on over and enjoy the "fun" with me and the others, chickadees!!

Smoochies,
Connie
