Peace-a work in progress

This is plaque hanging in my house year round.
I have to be honest with you all. I don't feel that I have
walked in that Peace through the past weeks.
Through the death of my brother, the potential of moving to Alaska,
to finding another fixer-upper we could afford. Well I have
been stressed and not experiencing God's Perfect Peace
My Bible says:
Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee.
So as I look back on the past weeks
I think where did I fall short? not to condemn myself
but to grow from this situation.
I have come to the conclusion it was because I did not
spend enough time in God's WORD ,
I did a word search on the word, PEACE this morning
and yes, it is about staying in the WORD and clinging to the Lord
I am sure this is a lesson I will learn and re-learn
Deby's flesh just wants her own way from time to time and instead
will just get mentally flustered and whew, I am on a roll and not into the WORD
as much as I should be.
What is so good about this is how the Lord, gently reproves me from
HIS WORD, from preaching at church, from things read at blogs or just that :
"Still small voice"
We all are works in progress and I am so thankful for God's Grace and PEACE.
Deby

Peace so easy, yet often the world hides it. Glad to see you found it again!

-as to the sign on my sidebar, that is the sign I painted on the gate to the back pens on the farm...if you wish you may take it**although it is very humble=)

I believe that with all of us, when faced or feeling as though life has piled upon us, we naturally do not feel the peace of God, thanks to our flesh. But it's in those moments that a child of God realizes that, sometimes, He calms the storm and sometimes He calms me. I heard that sung the other night at a concert we attended and it brought tears. As He allows us to go through the storms of life, He is always there to take us through it. He is the Peace Speaker! We must trust Him.

I regret to say that I am sometimes not as "peaceful" and trusting as I should be. And, like you, I find that the more I spend time in the Scriptures, the closer I draw to God. We are so very blessed to live in a country where we can read the Word of God without fear, and in an age when the Scriptures are readily available to everyone!

I think many of us are walking the same road as you, Deby!

Bless your little heart Deby. I appreciate your honesty. I have to agree that you have hit the nail on the head. When we are not in the word then we might as well kiss peace goodbye. And it is always nice to come to the point of realization too, isn't it. Hang in there. Blessings Cathryn

That is one of my favourite verses, too. It ties right in, as so many of my favourite verses do, with 'my' verse for 2009, Psalm 19:14 (the part about the "meditation of my heart"). I only get panicky when I start to think that I am in control, because I feel that the outcome of a stressful situation depends on me.

Grief is a different thing, I think. There is a time for grieving, sweet friend.

Your stress-o-meter is set on high right now. Even so, God is not surprised by the events(and the timing of them) that have touched your life and He is gently guiding you through this valley. With friends to pray you along. Stopping to pray for you now...

I agree with Tracy....lots of us struggle with this. And I also agree with Sabine, grief is different and you've had lots on your plate lately. (o:

Its the whole keeping our minds stayed on Him...the world is only too happy to distract us and we're only to happy to let ourselves be distracted. But let us rejoice that the Holy Spirit leads us back to where we need to be...without fail!

I've walked the same road many times and as someone else has said, am so thankful when the Lord wakens me and shows me how far I've wandered off *on my own way* ....

Blessings to you, Deby!

Wonderful reminders, Deby.

We must be quiet to hear His whisper in our hearts. <><

Can you tell us a little bit about your new home?
