My First Bible

This is my first Bible given to me on a Special Occasion from my parents
*years* ago. When I finger through it, I like to see what I underlined and how
discolored the pages are. When I figure out how old it is,I sure do wonder
where has the time gone ??? It is almost an antique !!!
As a former military wife, we moved many times. With moving we
would get rid of so much. I am glad I hung on to this. I have other things
I wish I would have kept. I also hope that when the Rapture comes (today would be great)
that this, and our other Bibles will be put to good use. They will need it, those Left Behind.
I am glad it won't be me, I grieve for those who will be.

I was just thinking of an old KJV bible I had as a child...I've not been able to locate it...just like you, we've moved a lot since I married and I'm afraid it has been misplaced. I do have a Bible similar to the one you posted that I got when I was baptized and I had used it to teach Sunday School with. An Aunt of my husband was cleaning the church and found it and sent it to me about a year ago. The kids had pretty much done it in, using it for a drawing pad and such...so sad...I wish there was more respect for the Bible.

Thanks for sharing your treasure with us!☺

That is a very precious thing. My mom and dad gave me a Bible as a child. Sadly, my first husband gave it away.

How precious that you still have your first Bible! I'm not sure whether mine is still in the house, but the version isn't one I'd read now. I still have my baby cross, though, and I treasure it.

What a precious keepsake! I still have my first Bible too--and like you, I love to thumb through the pages and see what I highlighted and underlined way back when...

AMEN...I can't part with any Bible I have owned no matter how tattered the pages..too many precious notes in each. I always note certain messages that were preached too and love to re-glean!

I too..think about all the Bibles in my house that will be left and hope that someone will find it and read it. I have put my salvation testimony in one for that very purpose..To whosoever finds this:
and I have also listed on a page Memorials of GOD's faithfulness..list of answered prayer..and then there is the list of things that show the days winding down..the end times as they make the news.

Indeed thanks for sharing your treasure!

Dear Deby,

I have an old white KJV Bible that my mother gave me when I was a little girl, and keep it on my bedside table to read often! His word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path!

I am enjoying your lovely blog! Thank you for visiting me and for all your kind and encouraging comments! I read your wonderful salvation testimony and I am so very glad you know that you are saved! I thought I was saved as a child, but I was wrong. The Lord saved me a little over 10 years ago, and I am so very thankful He did! What peace we have in finding forgiveness in our Saviour Jesus and eternal security through Him!

The Lord bless you!
Paula

My first Bible was a white one very similar to yours! Does yours zip up around the edge? Even your name page has the same border around it. I still have mine too, in my mother's hope chest that I inherited when she passed away. The Bible is in bad shape now, and I wrote so many things that meant something to me then - and even some things that I wrote just to be writing in my Bible - that it's fun to look at it and remember the little-girl-me. Thanks for sharing yours!
