Yard sale lovelies
I am on the hunt for some more LOVELY type things to add to my home.
I know....Deby,*you've been there done that before*..I can hear some of you now. I miss the flowers, the pretty type stuff and I want to add it in somehow...and I know they will work.
I found the things pictured at a yard sale....all at the same house and everything pictured only cost me $20.00. I think I got a great deal, what do you think?

Our Saturday Date
A date with your spouse is what works for you...
For us....this may sound silly but my husband LOVES when he loads us his old
Dodge pick up truck....which is by NO MEANS anything to look at, and takes a load to the dump.
We are in the process of remodeling our home so these trips come around quite frequently. He always will ask me to go on a date with him, to ride with him to the dump. Yep, it is a smelly place....yes...the truck is rickety, to me at least...but he loves going and loves me to go with him. ALSO the treat is that we get a coffee at our local 7-11. WE both love their coffee....I rarely say no.
I love these memories, and our conversations on the way to dump.....for some reason these Saturday morning trips or whenever he has the need to go are a fun time for both of us. I was just thinking, maybe it is because it just feels good to get rid of stuff that bogs you down. Maybe it is because he loves this old ugly truck that I tease him about. The truth is, I just love being with him and I know someday in the future we will reminisce about these mornings.
Life is short....enjoy your marriage, I love this guy, and have for almost 37 years...more today than yesterday and what is even better I know HE would say the same thing about me. Thank you Lord for my Spouse, my friend, Jim.
What Rose
Your Love Is Represented By a Pink Rose |
You see love as something that should be light, fun, and whimsical. People fall in love with you easily. And you tend to fall out of love easily! You express your love through attention and shared experiences. You love people more than they realize. |

Narcissism Anyone?
Narcissism--we're all guilty to one degree or another. It's part of being human. It's part of being American.
Our narcissism is exposed in our obsessive thoughts about our weight. Retailers have taken our obsession straight to the bank with today's vanity sizes. Yesterday's 10 is today's 6.
It's exposed in the nail salons and the tanning booths that bookend every strip mall in the country.
It's exposed in our $150-every-eight-weeks hairstyles.
It's exposed in how easily duped we are by the promise of expensive cellulite vanishing cream.
Our self-obession hasn't made us a happier nation over all. Our French tips and all-over tans have done nothing to diminish the number of anti-depressant prescriptions sliding across pharmacy counters everyday. That's because the glances of admiration and envy we get for wearing single-digit sizes provides only a quick and shallow fix.
Narcissim is even more prevalent with our claims and possessions: My happiness, my goals, my desires, my rights, my family, my schedule. Me, my, I--it's what we live for. Self involvement breeds more self-involvement because it all just seems so normal. Think about the conversations we have around the water cooler or in the parking lot:
"Do you think I've lost weight?"
"Well, now that you mention it, you do look a bit thinner--not that you needed to lose anything. I'm the one who could stand to take off a couple."
"You? Don't be silly. Your still wearing a size 4, aren't you? What's the problem?
"Well, actually, I'm a 2 now. But I've only been able to get to the gym three times a week lately, so I've been worried about my weight."
Can we imagine holding a conversation like that in front of a missionary from our church who spends fifty weeks a year in tribal India? For that matter, can we imagine walking up to anyone we really respect and admire and asking, "Does this outfit make me look fat?"
"Of course not!" you protest, "Those conversations are personal and private!"No they're not. They're just stupid.
Wouldn't it be glorifying to God, and utterly freeing to us, if we made a pact to help one another recover from our narcissistic tendencies rather than remaining narcissism enablers? Come on . . . we can do it.

Transformation
it was done by Becca of Bluebirds and Roses:
http://bluebirdroses.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Kind of like when you get saved.....you are a ugly old dresser..and then the Lord starts the process......His WORD convicts and starts to change you....listening to good Godly preaching changes you, praying changes you, the Holy Spirit convicts......and Voila' before you know it....you are turning into someone that is beautiful INSIDE and OUT.....and the process takes a lifetime. I do believe though, it can be slowed down by our disobedience or times when we think we can do it ourselves. There can be setbacks by our sin.....I am so glad that God is faithful and HE can see the finished project and even though, the process sometimes HURTS as we are in it....IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL....
Today COULD be the day....The Trumpet could sound and we WOULD BE OUT of HERE ? Would you go? ARE you sure? Are YOU ready to meet JESUS?

A Favorite Hymn
This hymn was written after two major traumas in Spafford’s life. The first was the great Chicago Fire of October 1871, which ruined him financially (he had been a wealthy businessman). Shortly after, while crossing the Atlantic, all four of Spafford’s daughters died in a collision with another ship. Spafford’s wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, “Saved alone.” Several weeks later, as Spafford’s own ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, the Holy Spirit inspired these words. They speak to the eternal hope that all believers have, no matter what pain and grief befall them on earth.
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,When sorrows like sea billows roll;Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Refrain
It is well, with my soul,It is well, with my soul,It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,Let this blest assurance control,That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
Refrain
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole,Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
Refrain
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:If Jordan above me shall roll,No pang shall be mine, for in death as in lifeThou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
Refrain
But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,The sky, not the grave, is our goal;Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!
Refrain
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,Even so, it is well with my soul.
Refrain
Can you tell my favorite verses????

Today
I had planned to get alot more done than that BUT......my TMJ has been so bad,
at the advice of our family medical expert, Dr. Lisa .....I took a muscle relaxer.
It wiped me out....a 3 hour nap....
The jobs , although not pressing....can wait until tomorrow...somethings are just out
of our control . That is life.

Yesterday and Thanks
Yesterday I was invited to Betty's house for lunch. She is a lady in my church. I was very excited as this is the first time I have gone to anyone from my churchs' home. We are the newbies and we know it takes awhile to be part of things.
At Betty's house we had *tuna salads* for lunch. You might be thinking...TUNA...so what..but this was REAL Tuna...she had bought the FRESH fish, processed it and it was in a jar....and the difference from Store bought Tuna and this was remarkable.
She served it on a bed of mixed greens from HER GARDEN....FRESH again...yummmm...with her fresh radishes and other veggies. She also served stuffed artichokes which were wonderful. I usually have just steamed mine and then dipped in butter as you go...but she had used cracker crumbs drizzled with olive oil and spices...yummm again.. WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!! Dessert conisted of Tapioca and a cookie. IT was a delightful time of food and fellowship. I would love to tell you more about Betty but I am going to wait and next time take pictures. This lady and her talents she has is impressive.
So this morning I am still thanking the Lord, for this dear sweet woman.. for her friendship and gracious hospitality. Enjoying the FRESH things was a blessing as I am the girl that routinely buys the BAGGED variety....( said in shame)
AND also...thank you to those of you who have sent me links to graphics and such it has been fun browsing and saving them to use in my posts.
