A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

ouch--I needed to read this today

Proverbs 16:24
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb,
sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
~*~*~*~
I read this today...and it hit me.
The effect of pleasant words....
In a day when sarcasm rules, and the jesting
can go overboard, I know I can cross the line
in this area of my life. They say there is a lot of truth
in jest. I know I have been wounded by such words.
I am sure, I have wounded others as well.
I am so thankful for how practical God's WORD is--
I know this is a area I need to work on.

Deby, Love your testimony, your blog and the way you sign your posts...."rapture ready". Me too! I hope others who read your blog that are not "rapture ready" will see the need. How wonderful would that be for someone to be saved as a result of your testimony. Love this verse too, but I agree with you, it does make one stop and think about the words spoken. Blessings, Gail

Oh, yes!

This is an area for us all to grow in I do believe!

Thanks for the reminder Deby!

Amen! I am so tired of the sarcasm that passes as 'humor' these days. And even though I don't care for it I, too, have been guilty of it.

Great post!

Good and much needed post Deb, we all fall so short, sarcasm has never been any of my ways, I cannot see anything fun or funny in putting some else down, my own self I could not do it, an we all need to choose our words carefully before talking, words hurt like a knife when spouted in haste and in spite, hugs my friend, good post and one most needed in these times.

I've been guilty of it myself ~ it's not something that is beneficial to others or to me ....

I need to be more aware of what I'm about to say, how it might affect the feelings of others and whether it is Christ-like to say it ~ sometimes I think I speak far too quickly, without REALLY thinking!

Good Post! Thanks for the reminder
that we do need to measure our words and be careful. Sarcasm can hurt.
