Old fashioned girl at heart

I am doing quite a bit of reading these days. I have most of Grace Livingston Hill's books. When I read her books, there are always lessons that the Lord shows me. I am reading "Bright Arrows" right now, published in 1946. Grace and I may have a few minor doctrinal differences, but not many. What I like about her books is that when people got saved, they were Changed ! Her women tend to have real servant's hearts and have a humilty about them. Some of the words are a bit old fashioned, but I am a old fashioned girl at heart....(smile) I have found most of mine in thrift stores, yard sales or Craig's list.
This morning, I read the following from "Bright Arrows" :
"Dear Lord, here is something again that I don't know how to manage, and can't do anything about. Won't You please take over, and help me to trust it utterly to You? Show me just what to say and do."
I don't know about you, but that is my prayer too...

I am reading "Happiness Hill" right now. We have a used book store that I can find the old copies of her books for $4.50.

I like the change that the Lord makes in peoples lives, in her books as well.

Love the prayer!

Deby, I strive daily to be a woman of faith and a woman of God. Sometimes I think we are too hard on ourselves, sugar, but we all try. I love the pix of the window though.

Grace Livingston Hill books can't be beat when it comes to fiction! I used to read them as a young girl. This makes me want to find one and start reading it. Gail

I have attempted to collect all of Grace Livingston Hill's books and do have most of them. I absolutely love the faith in them, and I also like the bits about cooking, old fashioned ways of cleaning, etc. They give glimpses into yesterday's everyday ways.

*Suze* could have written my comment for me because we are in wholehearted agreement about GLH's boopks for the very same reasons!!

I love Grace Livingston Hill books for the same reason. I've been buying them on eBay here and there. I'm reading The Honor Girl right now. I'm waiting to receive Phoebe Deane in the mail. Have you read the Marcia Schuyler trilogy? (Phoebe Deane is the second book, which you probably know. I have the first and third.)

Ditto the above comments on GLH! Loved her books when I was a teen. I learned lots of really great lessons from them.

Excellent prayer of surrender, something we should do more of, I feel.

Btw, I found you from A Quiet, Gracious Life. :o)
